Varex Imaging Corporation
I joined Varex as part of the engineering team, contributing to subsystem development, process validation, and hands‑on testing that supported the company’s mission to improve and save lives through advanced imaging.
Prototyping & Leadership
I led the development of a complete imaging subsystem integrating a heat exchanger, X‑ray tube, generator, and controller, coordinating design decisions and technical execution across cross‑functional teams. This effort—centered on the HPE‑225 X‑ray tube—was the company’s first attempt to offer a fully integrated subsystem to customers. I drove the program by establishing component‑level requirements and interface definitions, and by writing and managing the Program Plan, Verification Plan, and Validation Plan. To support subsystem design, I built a heat‑exchanger prototype to define radiator and pump specifications, using both FEA and CFD throughout the design process to improve accuracy and guide engineering decisions.
Customer Facing Marketing
During customer visits, I operated the equipment to demonstrate proper use and documented the site‑specific application of the tubes with detailed diagrams to support internal understanding and follow‑on engineering work.
Because cameras were not permitted at a particular customer site, I procured illustrations to document the job‑site environment and clearly communicate critical observations to the team.
I verified and validated new production processes, trained cross‑functional technician teams on updated cleaning and outgassing methods, and used FEA and CFD to drive design improvements, root‑cause analysis, and cost‑saving refinements. I led two major RCCA test campaigns—one on X‑ray tubes failing acceptance tests, where I traced the issue to a manufacturing process change, and another on 45 field‑returned tubes, where I identified a newly implemented component as the root cause. I also developed and implemented a new cleaning method, including prototyping a custom fixture and securing temporary change approval to integrate the process into production.

Documentation & Demonstrations
In my role, I provided QEW‑level demonstrations of safe operation and testing for the high‑voltage generator, X‑ray tube, cooler, and controller subsystems during customer visits, pairing each demonstration with clear, detailed work instructions.

I also authored six internal and external work instructions that formalized the safe operation and testing procedures for this newly developed subsystem, ensuring consistent, accurate use across teams and customers.

Cost Reduction
I performed material recovery efforts for high‑value, high‑toxicity components, reducing environmental impact while improving the company’s bottom line.
